Description

This is a complete GM Saginaw P-Series hydraulic power steering pump finished in chrome, featuring a cast iron housing, chrome steel integral reservoir, and chrome aluminum reservoir cap. It features a keyed shaft for keyed-pulley attachment, a 3/8" hose barb inlet, and a straight 5/8" inverted flare outlet — the standard straight-outlet Saginaw P-Series pump for builds where hose routing clears surrounding components without the need for an angled outlet fitting.

This pump is a direct replacement for a worn, leaking, or damaged Saginaw P-Series pump and is also commonly used when upgrading to chrome on show builds, engine bay restorations, and street performance builds running a Saginaw P-Series power steering system. It's commonly used on Camaro, Chevelle, Nova, C10, and GMC C/K builds, as well as small block and big block Chevy engine swaps, hot rod, and street rod builds running a keyed Saginaw P-Series power steering setup.

This pump is not compatible with GM Type II (TC series) power steering systems. A compatible keyed pulley and mounting hardware are not included — confirm pulley shaft compatibility, bracket alignment, hose routing, and fitting compatibility before installation. Fill and bleed the power steering system after installation.

Chrome Cast Iron Saginaw P-Series Pump — Reservoir and Cap Included
This complete GM Saginaw P-Series hydraulic power steering pump features a chrome cast iron housing, chrome steel integral reservoir, and chrome aluminum cap — everything needed to install a complete chrome Saginaw pump in a compatible P-Series power steering system, minus the pulley and mounting hardware.

Straight Outlet for Standard Hose Routing — Two Other Configurations Available
This pump features a straight 5/8" inverted flare outlet suited to standard hose routing where clearance isn't a concern. If your engine bay requires improved outlet clearance, TSP also offers this Saginaw pump family with an angled outlet fitting. If your system uses a banjo bolt hydraulic fitting, TSP also offers the banjo-style Saginaw pump separately — confirm your fitting, bracket, and hose requirements before choosing between the three.

Q&A

Is this a complete power steering pump or just a housing?
This is a complete GM Saginaw P-Series hydraulic power steering pump with chrome steel reservoir and chrome aluminum reservoir cap included. A compatible keyed pulley and mounting hardware are not included.

How does this pump differ from the chrome banjo-style Saginaw pump?
The banjo-style pump (JM2003C) uses a banjo bolt fitting configuration for its hydraulic connection. This pump (JM2005C) uses a standard hose barb inlet and inverted flare outlet. Confirm your steering system's fitting and bracket requirements before choosing between the two.

How does this pump differ from the chrome Saginaw pump with angled fitting?
Both pumps use a hose barb inlet and inverted flare outlet. The difference is outlet orientation — this pump has a straight outlet, while the angled fitting version redirects the outlet hose path for improved clearance in tight engine bays. Choose based on your hose routing requirements.

What are the inlet and outlet port sizes and styles?
The inlet is a 3/8" hose barb. The outlet is a 5/8" inverted flare, straight orientation. Confirm your hose ends and fitting configuration match before ordering.

What type of pulley shaft does this pump use?
This pump has a keyed shaft for keyed pulley attachment — not compatible with press-fit pulleys.

Is a pulley included?
No, a compatible keyed Saginaw P-Series pulley is required and sold separately.

Does the reservoir come included?
Yes — a chrome steel reservoir with chrome aluminum cap is included.

What material is the housing made from?
Cast iron with a chrome finish. The reservoir is steel with a chrome finish; the reservoir cap is aluminum with a chrome finish.

Is this compatible with a GM Type II (TC series) power steering system?
No, this pump is designed for GM Saginaw P-Series power steering systems and is not compatible with GM Type II (TC series) systems.

Can this be used on a small block or big block Chevy engine swap?
Yes, commonly used on small block and big block Chevy engine swaps, hot rod, and street rod builds running a Saginaw P-Series power steering setup.

Do I need to bleed the system after installation?
Yes, fill and properly bleed the power steering system after installation to remove trapped air and ensure smooth steering response.
