Description

Pro Series Ready-to-Run Distributor for the GM 90° 4.3L V6 (262 CID)

Whether you're converting a fuel-injected 4.3L V6 to carburetor, rebuilding a carbureted S-10 or Blazer, or replacing a failing distributor on a performance-built GMC truck, this TSP Pro Series Ready-to-Run distributor is engineered to deliver reliable ignition performance without the complexity of an external ignition control box.

The Pro Series design uses a circuit board module with magnetic pick-up trigger — a step up from standard contact points or basic reluctor setups — providing precise, consistent spark timing across the RPM range. Mechanical and vacuum advance give you direct, tunable control over ignition timing, making this distributor well-suited for carbureted builds, carburetor conversion projects, and performance street applications on the GM 90° V6 engine family.

The clockwise-rotation distributor is built around a machined aluminum housing with a steel gear and produces 35,000+ volts through an external coil. With a ready-to-run configuration, wiring is simplified — connect power and ground, set your timing, and the distributor is operational without additional ignition modules. The steel gear is most compatible with cast iron hydraulic or solid flat-tappet camshafts; consult your camshaft manufacturer if your build uses a roller or specialty cam.

This listing includes the distributor, three advance bushings, four advance springs, a color-matched spark plug wire retainer with screws, a vacuum advance block-off plate (black), a power extension cable, and a tachometer output extension cable — everything needed to support a clean installation.

Applications
Designed for the GM 90° V6 — 4.3L / 262 CID — in carbureted and carburetor-conversion applications. Confirmed common fitment includes Chevrolet S-10, Blazer, and Astro; GMC Sonoma, Jimmy, and Safari. Well-suited for performance rebuilds, carburetor conversion builds, and carbureted street applications on these engine and vehicle combinations. No model year range is published for this distributor — use engine family and configuration as the primary fitment reference.

Q&A

What engines is this Pro Series distributor designed for?
This distributor is designed for the GM 90° V6—4.3L (262 CID)—in carbureted and carburetor-conversion applications, including the Chevrolet S-10, Blazer, Astro, GMC Sonoma, Jimmy, and Safari.

Will this distributor work on a carburetor conversion from a CPI or TBI fuel-injected 4.3L V6?
Yes. This distributor uses mechanical and vacuum advance and does not rely on the factory ECM for ignition timing, making it well-suited for carburetor-converted 4.3L V6 engines. Some CPI-to-carburetor conversions may require modification to the oil pump drive shaft to achieve proper distributor seating depth. Verify fitment before final installation.

Do I need an ignition box or control module with this distributor?
No. This is a Ready-to-Run distributor with an integrated ignition module. No external ignition box or CDI unit is required. Simply connect power to a compatible external ignition coil, set the base timing, and the distributor is ready for operation.

What coil does this distributor require?
This distributor requires an external ignition coil rated for at least 35,000 volts. The coil is not included and must be purchased separately. Verify compatibility with your ignition system before installation.

Is the included steel gear compatible with my camshaft?
This distributor includes a steel distributor gear that is most compatible with cast iron hydraulic or solid flat tappet camshafts. If your engine uses a roller camshaft or another specialty camshaft, consult your camshaft manufacturer for the recommended distributor gear material before installation.

What advance type does this distributor use?
This distributor uses both mechanical (centrifugal) advance and vacuum advance, allowing you to tune both base timing and the mechanical advance curve. It is not computer-controlled and does not interface with a factory EFI ECM.

What is included with this distributor?
This distributor includes the distributor assembly, three advance bushings, four advance springs for mechanical advance tuning, a color-matched spark plug wire retainer with mounting screws, a black vacuum advance block-off plate, a power extension cable, and a tachometer output extension cable.

What electrical system does this distributor require?
This distributor requires a 12-volt electrical system with a functioning alternator. It is not compatible with 6-volt systems, generator-equipped vehicles, or ballast resistor ignition circuits.

Which direction does this distributor rotate?
This distributor rotates clockwise, which is the standard rotation direction for GM 90° V6 engine applications.

Can I use the vacuum advance, or do I need to block it off?
Both options are supported. The distributor includes a functional vacuum advance canister for improved street drivability and fuel economy, along with a black vacuum advance block-off plate for applications where full mechanical advance only is preferred, such as racing or certain performance builds.

Is this distributor available in different colors?
Yes. This distributor is available in both red and black finishes, allowing you to match your engine bay appearance.

What is a Emissions-Controlled Vehicle?
"An emissions-controlled vehicle is any vehicle equipped with a factory-installed emissions control system designed to reduce air pollution. These systems include catalytic converters, oxygen sensors, EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valves, and diesel particulate filters (DPF). Most vehicles manufactured after 1975 are considered emissions-controlled and must comply with federal and state emissions laws when used on public roads."
