Product Details

Features

  • 45° chrome zinc outlet routes the upper radiator hose in tight engine bays
  • Includes a heater bypass provision — a feature most TSP water necks don't have
  • Fits Ford Windsor small block V8s — 221 through 351W (302/5.0L, 351W included)
  • O-ring seal and mounting hardware included for straightforward installation

Description

This 45° water neck creates the coolant outlet connection between the thermostat housing and upper radiator hose on Ford Windsor small block V8 engines, with a chrome finish over zinc construction built to handle coolant system heat and pressure. This water neck includes a heater bypass provision, useful for cooling systems that route heater core flow through the thermostat housing rather than a separate fitting elsewhere in the system.

This water neck is built for the Ford Windsor small block V8 family — 221, 260, 289, 302 (5.0L), and 351W CID. It is not built for the Cleveland/Modified 335-series engines (351C, 351M, 400), which use a different thermostat housing despite sharing similar displacement figures. An O-ring seal is included, along with mounting hardware.

This outlet is fixed at 45° and does not swivel; hose alignment is set at installation.

Engine Applications
Fits the Ford Windsor small block V8 family across its full production range — 221, 260, 289, 302 (commonly called 5.0L), and 351W CID. All share a common thermostat housing bolt pattern distinct from the Cleveland/Modified 335-series (351C, 351M, 400) engines.

Installation
Confirm your engine is a Windsor-series small block before ordering — the similarly-named 351C and 351M use a different thermostat housing and are not compatible with this water neck. The included O-ring seals against the housing face; because this outlet is fixed rather than swiveling, hose alignment is set by the neck's 45° angle rather than by rotating it after mounting.

Q&A

What engines does this water neck fit?
Ford Windsor small block V8s: 221, 260, 289, 302 (commonly called 5.0L), and 351W CID.

Does this fit a 351C or 351M?
No. Those are Cleveland/Modified (335-series) engines that use a different thermostat housing than the Windsor family this water neck is built for.

What is the heater bypass provision for?
It's a built-in passage for routing heater core return flow through the thermostat housing, which some Windsor-based cooling systems use instead of a separate bypass hose or fitting elsewhere in the system.

Does this water neck swivel?
No. This 45° neck has a fixed outlet angle and does not swivel — hose alignment is determined by the neck's angle at installation.

Does this include a gasket or O-ring?
This version includes an O-ring seal.

Is this a good fit for a Mustang or F-100 restoration?
Yes, on Windsor-equipped applications. Confirm your engine is a 221, 260, 289, 302, or 351W before ordering, since Ford small blocks span multiple thermostat housing designs.
