Product Details

Features

  • 35 chromoly bolts restore clamping force lost to factory bolt fatigue
  • 12-point heads for accurate torque-down on rebuilt or performance FE builds
  • Fits Ford FE 390/427/428 as a standard (non-Edelbrock) bolt replacement
  • Reliable choice for muscle car restorations and street-driven rebuilds

Description

Restore proper head gasket sealing on your Ford FE 390, 427, or 428 with this Pro Series cylinder head bolt kit. Factory head bolts can weaken over time or lose clamping force after repeated heat cycles, especially in rebuilt or performance engines — this kit delivers consistent clamping strength to help maintain sealing and reliability under load.

Manufactured from 35 chromoly steel with a black finish, these 12-point bolts allow for accurate torque application and even load distribution across the cylinder head. This kit is designed for standard Ford FE cylinder head applications — not marketed as Edelbrock-specific.

Installation follows a 3-step torque sequence up to 100 ft-lbs with lube (30 → 65 → 100). Not compatible with Ford 429/460, Small Block Windsor, Cleveland, or Coyote engines. Verify your cylinder head brand, fastener length, and washer requirements before installation.

Applications
Fits Ford FE Big Block V8: 6.4L/390 in³, 7.0L/427 in³, and 7.0L/428 in³ — designed for standard FE cylinder head applications, not Edelbrock-specific. Common on Galaxie/Fairlane/Torino, Mustang/Cougar, F-Series (FE-equipped), and Cobra replica/FE performance builds. Not compatible with Ford 429/460, Small Block Windsor, Cleveland, or Coyote engines.

Installation
Torque in three steps with lube: 30 ft-lbs, 65 ft-lbs, then a final pass to 100 ft-lbs. Verify cylinder head brand, fastener length, and washer requirements before installation.

Q&A

What's the difference between this kit and TSP's Edelbrock RPM FE stud kit?
This kit uses head bolts rather than studs and is designed for standard Ford FE cylinder head applications. The Edelbrock RPM kit uses studs and is specifically designed for compatible Edelbrock RPM-style FE heads.

Will this fit a 427 FE?
Yes. The 7.0L/427 FE is covered, but confirm your specific block and cylinder head combination before ordering.

Are these bolts or studs?
Bolts. This kit uses 12-point head bolts, not studs.

What torque sequence do I need to follow during installation?
Using the specified lubricant, torque in three steps: 30 ft-lbs, then 65 ft-lbs, then 100 ft-lbs. Follow the proper FE cylinder head tightening sequence during each step.

Will this fit a Ford 429 or 460?
No. The 429 and 460 belong to the Ford 385-Series engine family and are not compatible with this FE-specific bolt kit.

Will these bolts help maintain head gasket sealing after a rebuild?
Yes. New head bolts provide consistent cylinder head clamping, which is important for maintaining proper head gasket sealing after a rebuild.

What material are these bolts made from?
35 chromoly steel with a black finish and 12-point head design.
