Description

Upgrade your Ford 5.0L Coyote modular V8's main bearing fasteners with this Pro Series stud kit, built from 35 chromoly steel for a minimum tensile strength of 190,000 PSI. Factory main bolts are torque-to-yield and not designed for reuse; this stud kit is recommended for performance builds exceeding 500 hp where repeated torque-to-yield bolts would compromise clamping force.

This kit is designed for Gen 1 (2011–2014), Gen 2 (2015–2017), and Gen 3 (2018+) 5.0L Coyote main stud applications and is not compatible with Ford small block Windsor, FE, or 385-series engines — this is a Coyote modular platform kit only. Gen 1 and Gen 2 engines use a 7-quart oil pan, while Gen 3 uses a larger 10-quart pan; verify oil pump pickup tube stud clearance on 2018+ applications with a plastic oil pan, as stud trimming may be required.

What Is a Main Stud Kit?
A main stud kit replaces the factory main bearing bolts with studs — fasteners threaded on both ends that thread permanently into the block and are secured with a nut rather than a bolt head. Because factory Coyote main bolts are torque-to-yield and designed for one-time use, studs provide a reusable, more consistent clamping solution for builds that will see repeated engine assembly or higher cylinder pressures.

Performance Benefits
The 35 chromoly steel construction and 190,000 PSI minimum tensile strength provide significantly more clamping capacity than factory torque-to-yield bolts, helping maintain main bearing bore stability under higher horsepower loads. The 12-point head style and black oxide finish support both a secure installation and a clean appearance, while the two-step torque specification (25 ft-lbs, then 45 ft-lbs on inner bolts up to 80 ft-lbs, 25 ft-lbs on side bolts) is matched specifically to the Coyote's main cap fastening sequence.

Ford Mustang Boss 302 (5.0L Coyote, 2012–2013)

Q&A

Will this fit my 351W or small block Windsor Ford?
No. This main stud kit is designed specifically for the Ford 5.0L Coyote modular V8 and is not compatible with Windsor small block, FE, or 385-series Ford engines.

Does this fit all generations of the 5.0L Coyote?
Yes. This kit is designed for Gen 1 (2011–2014), Gen 2 (2015–2017), and Gen 3 (2018+) Ford 5.0L Coyote V8 engines.

Do I need to modify anything to install this on a 2018-and-later Coyote?
Possibly. Gen 3 Coyote engines use a larger 10-quart oil pan. On engines equipped with a plastic oil pan, verify oil pump pickup tube stud clearance during installation, as minor stud trimming may be required.

Why use studs instead of the factory bolts?
Factory Coyote main bolts are torque-to-yield fasteners and are not intended for reuse. Main studs provide greater clamping force, improved main cap stability, and can be reused, making them the preferred choice for high-performance and forced-induction builds exceeding 500 horsepower.

What torque specs should I use during installation?
Torque the fasteners in stages following the manufacturer's recommended sequence: Step 1 is 25 ft-lbs. Step 2 is 45 ft-lbs on the inner fasteners, then continue tightening the inner fasteners to 80 ft-lbs. Torque the side bolts to 25 ft-lbs.

What material are these studs made from?
These main studs are manufactured from premium 35 chromoly steel with a minimum tensile strengt
