Emissions Notice
This Top Street Performance (TSP) product is designed for racing and off-road competition use only. It is not legal for use on public roads or emissions-controlled vehicles and does not comply with federal, state, or local emissions regulations. The buyer assumes all responsibility for legal use and installation.
What is a Emissions-Controlled Vehicle?
"An emissions-controlled vehicle is any vehicle equipped with a factory-installed emissions control system designed to reduce air pollution. These systems include catalytic converters, oxygen sensors, EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valves, and diesel particulate filters (DPF). Most vehicles manufactured after 1975 are considered emissions-controlled and must comply with federal and state emissions laws when used on public roads."
Chevrolet 1995-1997 LT1 Gen. 2 Opti-Spark II Distributor
The TSP Opti-Spark II Distributor is a direct OEM-replacement unit for the Chevrolet Gen. II LT1 optical distributor used in 1995 through 1997 applications. Like its Gen. I predecessor, the Opti-Spark II mounts at the front of the LT1 engine beneath the water pump and uses an optical (infrared) trigger to send crank position signals straight to the PCM — all ignition timing advance is handled electronically by the engine computer, with no mechanical or vacuum advance to adjust. This replacement unit restores factory-spec signal accuracy for LT1-powered vehicles experiencing rough idle, misfires, hard starting, or distributor-related fault codes.
This is an Opti-Spark II unit — 1995 through 1997 only. The Opti-Spark II uses a revised connector and internal design compared to the 1992–1994 Opti-Spark I, and the two generations are not interchangeable. Verify your model year before ordering.
As with all Opti-Spark units, water intrusion from a weeping or leaking water pump is the leading cause of failure, since the distributor sits directly beneath it. Before installing this or any replacement Opti-Spark unit, inspect the water pump for leaks and replace it if any seepage is present — installing a new distributor over a leaking pump will lead to the same failure.
