Description

This distributor is purpose-built for Oldsmobile's second-generation V8 engine family — 260, 307, 330, 350, 400, 403, 425, and 455 CID. Whether you're restoring a Cutlass, refreshing a 442, or building a carbureted Delta 88 or Ninety-Eight for street performance, this Pro Series Ready-to-Run distributor delivers reliable ignition without requiring a separate ignition box.

The circuit board ignition module pairs with a magnetic pickup trigger to hold timing steady, avoiding the wear and drift of a points-based system. Mechanical and vacuum advance give direct control over your advance curve, and this is a male-terminal, external-coil design — the coil is not included, and the setup requires a coil rated at 35,000 volts or higher, since keeping the coil external allows you to run a higher-output coil if your build calls for it.

The machined aluminum housing pairs with a steel distributor gear, most compatible with cast iron hydraulic or solid flat-tappet camshafts — consult your camshaft manufacturer if your build uses a roller or specialty cam profile. Ready-to-run design simplifies installation: connect power, ground, and external coil, set base timing, and the distributor is operational.

Applications
Designed specifically for the Oldsmobile second-generation V8 engine — 4.3L/260, 5.0L/307, 5.4L/330, 5.7L/350, 6.6L/400, 6.6L/403, 7.0L/425, and 7.5L/455 CID. Will not fit engines before 1964. Confirmed common vehicle applications include Oldsmobile Cutlass, 442, Delta 88, Ninety-Eight, Toronado, and Vista Cruiser. Suited for carbureted street builds, restorations, and performance applications on these engine and vehicle combinations.

Installation
Ready-to-run design: connect a 12-volt power source, ground, and an external coil rated at 35,000+ volts — no separate ignition box required. Includes 3 bushings and 4 springs for tuning mechanical advance, a color-matched spark plug wire retainer with screws, a black vacuum advance block-off plate, a power extension cable, and a tachometer output extension cable.

Q&A

What engines is this Pro Series distributor designed for?
The Oldsmobile second-generation V8 in 4.3L (260), 5.0L (307), 5.4L (330), 5.7L (350), 6.6L (400), 6.6L (403), 7.0L (425), and 7.5L (455) displacements.

Do I need an ignition box or control module with this distributor?
No. This is a Ready-to-Run distributor with an integrated circuit board module and magnetic pickup trigger — connect power and an external coil, set base timing, and it's operational.

Does this distributor include the ignition coil?
No. This is an external-coil design; the coil is not included and must be rated at 35,000 volts or higher.

What electrical system does this distributor require?
A 12-volt system with a functioning alternator. It is not compatible with generator-based charging systems or a ballast resistor in the ignition circuit.

Is this a male or female terminal distributor?
Male terminal. Confirm your wiring harness or extension cables match before ordering.

What Oldsmobile models does this distributor fit?
Confirmed applications include Cutlass, 442, Delta 88, Ninety-Eight, Toronado, and Vista Cruiser, provided the engine is a second-generation Oldsmobile V8 (1964 or later).

Is the distributor gear compatible with my camshaft?
The gear is steel, most compatible with cast iron hydraulic or solid flat-tappet camshafts. If your engine uses a roller or specialty cam, consult your camshaft manufacturer for the recommended gear material.

What's included with this distributor?
Three advance bushings and four springs for mechanical advance tuning, a color-matched spark plug wire retainer with screws, a black vacuum advance block-off plate, a power extension cable, and a tachometer output extension cable.

Can this distributor be used in a marine application?
No — this distributor is not rated for marine use.

What is a Emissions-Controlled Vehicle?
"An emissions-controlled vehicle is any vehicle equipped with a factory-installed emissions control system designed to reduce air pollution. These systems include catalytic converters, oxygen sensors, EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valves, and diesel particulate filters (DPF). Most vehicles manufactured after 1975 are considered emissions-controlled and must comply with federal and state emissions laws when used on public roads."
