Description

The TSP Ford 5.0L EFI Phenolic Spacer is a 1/2" heat-isolation spacer built for the standard factory intake manifold on 1986-1993 Ford 5.0L EFI small block Windsor V8 engines. Phenolic plastic construction limits heat transfer from the heads and block into the intake tract, helping keep incoming air cooler for more consistent throttle response and reduced heat soak.

The kit includes two gaskets and mounting hardware, so it arrives as a complete set. Before installing, confirm the throttle-body or upper-intake bolt pattern, bolt length, and port alignment against your stock intake. Because the spacer adds 1/2" of height, check hood clearance, throttle linkage travel, vacuum routing, and sensor connector reach once it's installed.

This spacer is built for the Ford small block Windsor V8 — 4.9L / 302 CID, commonly referred to as 5.0L — equipped with the standard factory intake manifold, 1986-1993. It's found in Ford Mustang, F-100, Bronco, Mercury Cougar, and Ford Fairlane applications running this engine and intake combination.


Heat Isolation
Phenolic plastic transfers far less heat than aluminum, keeping intake air closer to ambient temperature instead of absorbing heat from the heads and block — useful for reducing heat soak on stock-intake EFI setups.

Installation
Two gaskets and mounting hardware are included. Confirm bolt length and port alignment against your stock intake before final torque, and re-check hood clearance, throttle linkage, vacuum routing, and sensor connectors after the 1/2" height is added.

Is this spacer for a stock intake or a GT40 intake?
This spacer (SP8437) is designed for the standard factory 5.0L EFI intake manifold. If your engine is equipped with a GT40 upper and lower intake manifold, use the GT40-specific 1/2-inch spacer (SP8436) or 1-inch spacer (SP8438) instead.

What does this spacer do?
This 1/2-inch phenolic spacer installs beneath the stock intake manifold, creating a thermal barrier that reduces heat transfer from the cylinder heads into the intake manifold. This helps minimize heat soak and maintain cooler intake air temperatures.
