Description
Upgrade your Willys Overland L4 "Go-Devil" — 2.2L/134 CID — with this Pro Series Ready-to-Run distributor, featuring an onboard circuit board ignition module paired with a magnetic pickup trigger, so there's no separate ignition box to wire in. This distributor supports Willys MB, Ford GPW, CJ-2A, and CJ-3A applications running the L-134 flathead engine.
The housing is machined billet aluminum with a hardened steel shaft, sealed ball bearing on top, and sintered steel bushing on the bottom, and rotation is counterclockwise. This distributor requires a 12-volt electrical system with an alternator and a coil rated at 35,000 volts or higher; it is not compatible with generator-based charging systems or vehicles still running an active ballast resistor in the ignition circuit — the resistor should be removed or bypassed as part of installation.
What Is a Ready-to-Run (RTR) Distributor?
An RTR distributor has the ignition control module built directly into the housing, so it fires off a single 12-volt source without needing a separate ignition box wired into the circuit. This unit pairs that onboard module with a circuit board ignition control and magnetic pickup trigger, replacing the factory Willys L-134 breaker-point distributor. The coil stays external here, requiring a coil rated at 35,000 volts or higher.
Performance Benefits
The circuit board module and magnetic pickup trigger hold timing steady without the wear and drift of a points-based system — a meaningful upgrade for these vintage military and civilian Willys Jeep engines. Mechanical and vacuum advance are both included, along with a color-matched spark plug wire retainer, vacuum advance block-off plate, and power/tachometer extension cables for a clean, complete install.

Engine Fitment
COMPATIBLE WITH
WILLYS-OVERLAND L4 "GO DEVIL"
• 2.2 L / 134 in3
NOTES
• Designed for the Willys-Overland L-134 "Go Devil" L-head (flathead) four-cylinder engine produced from 1941–1953.
• The Go Devil was phased out beginning in 1950 in favor of the F-head "Hurricane" engine — verify which engine is installed before ordering, as both displace 134 cubic inches but are not interchangeable.
• Not compatible with the Willys F-134 "Hurricane" F-head engine — that engine requires a different distributor.
• Requires a 12-volt electrical system with alternator — not compatible with 6-volt generator systems used in original military and early civilian applications.
• Ready-to-run design — no separate ignition box required.
Requires an external coil with a minimum output of 35,000V.
• Distributor gear is most compatible with cast iron hydraulic or solid flat tappet camshafts; consult camshaft manufacturer for recommended gear material before installation.

Q&A
What vehicles does this distributor fit?
This distributor fits Willys MB and Ford GPW military Jeeps, along with civilian Willys CJ-2A and CJ-3A models equipped with the L-134 "Go-Devil" flathead four-cylinder engine.
Does this fit the later F-134 "Hurricane" engine?
No. This distributor is designed specifically for the L-134 "Go-Devil" flathead engine. The later F-134 "Hurricane" overhead-valve engine uses a different ignition system, so compatibility should not be assumed.
Do I need a separate ignition box with this distributor?
No. The ignition control module is built into the distributor housing, so no external ignition box or CDI unit is required.
What direction does the rotor turn on this distributor?
Counterclockwise, viewed from above, matching the standard rotation direction of the Willys L-134 "Go-Devil" engine.
Does this distributor include a coil?
No. This is an external-coil Ready-to-Run distributor and requires an ignition coil rated at 35,000 volts or higher, which is sold separately.
Can I run this on a generator-charged or ballast-resistor-equipped Willys Jeep?
No. This distributor requires a 12-volt electrical system with a charging alternator. It is not compatible with generator-equipped vehicles or ignition systems that use an active ballast resistor.
