Description
This 160° thermostat regulates coolant flow to help maintain stable engine operating temperature, opening earlier than a stock-temperature thermostat to support cooling system performance under demanding driving conditions. Brass and copper construction is built to withstand repeated thermal cycling, and a jiggle pin weep hole helps bleed trapped air during installation and refill.
This thermostat is built for Gen III/IV LS engines using a separate thermostat and water neck housing design only — it does not fit the early LS1 (1997-2003), which integrates the thermostat into the water pump housing, or the later Gen III/IV redesign (2007+ trucks; 2009-2013 LS3/LSA/LS7/LS9-equipped cars), which uses a dimensionally different thermostat. Confirm your specific engine and production year before ordering, since fitment varies within the same engine family depending on production year.
A gasket is included for installation.
Engine Applications
Fits Gen III/IV LS engines with the separate thermostat and water neck design: 5.7L (LS1 2004 late-production only, LS6), 6.0L (LS2, LQ4, LQ9 2004-2006), 6.2L (LS3 2008 only, L76 2008 only), 7.0L (LS7 2006-2008 only), 4.8L (LR4 2004-2006), and 5.3L (LM7, LM4, L59 2004-2006). Fitment depends on production year as much as engine code — confirm both before ordering.
Installation
The included gasket seals the thermostat housing connection, and the jiggle pin weep hole allows trapped air to bleed out during coolant fill rather than getting trapped at the thermostat. Confirm your housing uses the bypass flange dimensions listed in Specifications before installing.

Q&A
Will this fit my 1998 LS1 Corvette?
No. Early LS1 engines (1997-2003) have the thermostat integrated into the water pump housing rather than a separate thermostat housing, so this thermostat isn't compatible.
Will this fit a 2010 Camaro SS or 2012 CTS-V?
No. Both use the later Gen III/IV redesign (2007+ trucks; 2009-2013 LS3/LSA/LS7/LS9-equipped cars), which uses a dimensionally different thermostat than this one.
How do I know if my engine has the separate thermostat and water neck design?
This design is used on specific production years within the LS1, LS2, LS6, LS3, L76, LS7, LR4, LM7, LM4, and L59 engine codes — check your engine's specific production year against the listed fitment before ordering, since the same engine code can span both the compatible and incompatible housing designs depending on year.
What does a 160° thermostat do differently than a stock thermostat?
It opens at a lower temperature than the factory-standard rating, allowing coolant circulation to begin sooner — commonly used in performance or track-driven applications where earlier cooling response is prioritized.
Does this include a gasket?
Yes. A gasket is included for installation.
What is the jiggle pin weep hole for?
It allows trapped air to bleed out of the cooling system near the thermostat during fill, helping prevent air pockets after installation.
Is this a good match for a supercharged or turbocharged LS build?
Yes, on engines with the compatible thermostat housing design — a lower opening temperature is commonly chosen for forced-induction builds to support cooling system response under higher heat loads.
