Product Details

Features

  • Cast aluminum construction with polished finish for a clean, upgraded engine bay look
  • No breather holes — built for custom PCV/breather routing setups
  • Fits Ford Small Block Windsor V8s: 221 through 351W CID
  • Sold as a pair; gaskets and hardware sourced separately for your application

Description

These valve covers are built for the Ford Small Block Windsor V8 family — 221, 255, 260, 289, 302 (marketed as "5.0L" in later Mustang applications despite its 4.9L actual displacement), and 351W CID. Common platforms include Ford Mustang, Falcon, Fairlane, F-100/F-150 trucks, and Mercury Cougar/Comet.

Construction is polished aluminum with a smooth top style and a 3 7/8 in. height, using a perimeter-bolt mounting pattern. This cover has no breather holes machined into it, making it suited to custom ventilation setups — such as valley-mounted breathers, remote PCV routing, or EFI applications with alternate crankcase ventilation — rather than a direct stock-style breather replacement.

These covers are sold as a pair without gaskets, grommets, or mounting hardware, so those should be sourced to match your specific gasket surface and ventilation layout.

Applications
Fits Ford Small Block Windsor V8 engines: 221, 255, 260, 289, 302 (also referred to as "5.0L"), and 351W CID. Common platforms include Ford Mustang, Falcon, Fairlane, F-100/F-150 trucks, and Mercury Cougar/Comet, across Windsor-equipped model years using the standard six-bolt Windsor valve cover pattern.

Installation
Covers use a perimeter-bolt mounting pattern with a 3 7/8 in. height. No gaskets, grommets, or hardware are included. Since this cover has no breather holes, confirm your intended breather/PCV routing and intake/EFI clearance before ordering — this is not a direct match for setups relying on a breather hole in the valve cover itself.

Engine Fitment

COMPATIBLE WITH
FORD SMALL BLOCK WINDSOR V8 ENGINES
• 3.6L / 221 in³
• 4.2L / 255 in³
• 4.3L / 260 in³
• 4.7L / 289 in³
• 5.0L / 302 in³
• 5.8L / 351W in³

NOTES
• Verify Windsor valve cover pattern, breather location, and intake/EFI clearance before installation.
• Confirm whether this cover's title-year range (1962–85) reflects a physical fitment limit or an emissions-compliance cutoff for non-EFI/pre-catalytic applications — the underlying six-bolt pattern is shared through 1996, so this affects labeling accuracy either way.

COMMON VEHICLE APPLICATIONS
Ford Mustang (1965–1995, engine varies by year — 289 through 1968, 302 onward, 351W 1969–1970 only)
Ford Falcon / Fairlane (1962–1970, 221/260/289/351W depending on year)
Ford F-100 / F-150 (1968–1996, 302/351W)
Mercury Cougar / Comet (1964–1973, 289/302/351W depending on year)

Q&A

Does this fit a 302 or a "5.0L" Ford engine — are those the same thing?
Yes. The Ford 302 CID Windsor V8 is the same engine marketed as "5.0L" in later Mustang applications, despite its actual displacement being 4.9L. This cover fits both naming conventions of the same engine.

Does this cover have breather holes?
No. This is a no-breather-hole design, intended for custom ventilation setups where PCV or breather routing is handled elsewhere rather than through the cover itself.

Will this fit a later Windsor engine beyond the 1985 model year listed?
The Windsor six-bolt valve cover pattern was used across a wide production span. Confirming your specific engine's valve cover pattern and breather/PCV layout against this cover's specifications is recommended if your engine falls outside the primary years listed.

Do these come with gaskets or hardware?
No. This set is sold as a pair without gaskets, grommets, or mounting hardware, which should be sourced to match your engine's gasket surface and ventilation setup.

What's the height of these valve covers?
3 7/8 in., using a perimeter-bolt mounting pattern.

Will these clear EFI intake components?
Clearance against your specific intake manifold and EFI components should be confirmed before installation, since Windsor engines were produced in both carbureted and EFI configurations with different intake heights and routing.

Are these a good fit for a custom or swap application?
Since this cover has no breather holes and is built around the standard Windsor six-bolt pattern, it's suited to swap or custom-build applications where crankcase ventilation is routed independently of the valve cover.
