Description
Chrysler's original "FirePower" Hemi V8, produced from 1951 through 1958, uses a rear-sump oiling layout that's specific to this early Gen I Hemi architecture. This unplated steel pan is built for that family, covering 5.4L (331 in³, 1951-1955), 5.8L (354 in³, 1956), and 6.4L (392 in³, 1957-1958) displacements.
The 331 and 354 use a low-deck block, while the 392 uses a taller-deck design — confirm your specific engine's oil pan rail and rear main seal configuration before ordering, since deck height changed across the family's production run.
The pan holds 5 quarts and uses a wet-sump design with the sump located at the rear. It has a 1/2"-20 drain plug thread with the drain plug included. This pan does not include internal baffling, a windage tray, gasket, or oil pickup, and does not have a dipstick provision — these will need to be sourced or accounted for separately as needed for your build.
This pan is not interchangeable with the later 426 Hemi (1964 and up) or the modern Gen III Hemi (2003 and up) — it is specific to the original 1951-1958 FirePower Gen I Hemi architecture only.
Constructed from unplated steel, the pan is built to match the factory appearance of these early Hemi engines.
Applications
Fits Chrysler FirePower Hemi V8 Gen. I: 5.4L (331 in³, 1951-1955), 5.8L (354 in³, 1956), and 6.4L (392 in³, 1957-1958). Not interchangeable with the 426 Hemi (1964+) or the modern Gen III Hemi (2003+).
