Description

This Pro Series Ready to Run distributor is built for the Chrysler B-series big block V8 — 350, 361, 383, and 400 CID — using a circuit board module with a magnetic pickup trigger for consistent spark delivery without breaker points. Rotation is counter-clockwise. This version is equipped with a female-terminal distributor cap and a steel distributor gear.

This distributor requires an external coil rated at 35,000+ volts (not included) and a 12-volt electrical system with an alternator. It is not compatible with generator-based charging systems or vehicles still running a ballast resistor in the ignition circuit — the ballast resistor must be removed or bypassed before installation.

Engine fitment covers the Chrysler B-series big block — 350 (5.7L), 361 (5.9L), 383 (6.3L), and 400 (6.6L) CID — commonly found in the Dodge Charger, Super Bee, Plymouth Road Runner, Plymouth GTX, and Chrysler Newport.

What's Included with This Pro Series Distributor?
This kit ships with 3 bushings and 4 springs for the mechanical advance (allowing the advance curve to be tuned), a color-matched spark plug wire retainer with screws, a black vacuum advance block-off plate, a power extension cable, and a tachometer output extension cable.

Female Terminal Cap and Steel Gear
This unit uses a female-terminal distributor cap — match this to your existing coil and plug wire connector style before ordering, since TSP's male-cap version of this same distributor requires the opposite terminal style. It also includes a steel distributor gear, most compatible with cast iron hydraulic or solid flat tappet camshafts; confirm compatibility with your camshaft before installing.

Performance Benefit
The circuit board module and magnetic pickup trigger hold ignition timing more consistently than a worn points setup, without the gap drift that develops in breaker-point systems over time. The included bushing/spring kit allows the mechanical advance curve to be tuned to your engine combination, and the included extension cables and hardware simplify wiring and cap alignment during installation.

NOTES
• Fits Chrysler B-series big block V8 engines (350, 361, 383, and 400).
• Not compatible with Chrysler RB-series engines (413, 426 Wedge, 440) — RB engines use a wider intake manifold and different distributor.
• The 361 was used in passenger cars through 1962 only; truck applications continued through 1979.
• Ready-to-run design with external coil — no ignition box required.
• Designed for carbureted ignition systems only.
• This distributor is designed for a 12 volt electrical system with an alternator and a performance ignition coil of 35,000 V or more.
• It is not compatible with a generator and cannot be used with a ballast resistor.
• Distributor gear is most compatible with cast iron hydraulic or solid flat tappet camshafts; consult cam manufacturer for recommended gear material.

Q&A

Does this distributor fit the Chrysler 350 B-series big block?
Yes. This distributor fits the complete Chrysler B-series big block family, including the 350, 361, 383, and 400 CID engines in compatible carbureted applications.

What's the difference between this distributor and the male-cap version?
The only difference is the distributor cap terminal style. This version uses female terminals that accept spark plug wires with male-pin terminals, while the male-cap version uses male terminals that accept spark plug wires with female-socket terminals. Verify your spark plug wire terminal style before ordering.

What rotation direction does this distributor turn?
Counter-clockwise, matching the standard rotation direction used by the Chrysler B-series big block family (350, 361, 383, and 400 CID).

What type of distributor gear is included?
This distributor includes a steel distributor gear that is most compatible with cast iron hydraulic and solid flat tappet camshafts. If your engine uses a roller or specialty camshaft, consult the camshaft manufacturer for the recommended distributor gear material before installation.

Does this distributor require an external ignition box?
No. This Ready-to-Run distributor features an integrated ignition module with a magnetic pickup trigger. No external ignition box, CDI unit, points, or condenser is required. An external ignition coil rated at 35,000 volts or higher is required and is not included.

What is included with this distributor?
This distributor includes three advance bushings and four advance springs for mechanical advance tuning, a color-matched spark plug wire retainer with mounting screws, a vacuum advance block-off plate, a power extension cable, and a tachometer output extension cable.

What electrical system does this distributor require?
This distributor requires a 12-volt electrical system with a charging alternator. It is not compatible with generator-equipped vehicles, 6-volt electrical systems, or ballast resistor ignition circuits.
