Product Details

Features

  • Standalone DBW engine harness for 2014+ L86/L83 engines + 6L80E transmission
  • Includes fuse/relay box, sensor wiring, fuel pump/fan control, OBD2
  • Requires GM connectors 28604913 (driver) and 28605173 (passenger) to complete install
  • Confirm your L86/L83 pairs with 6L80E, not 10L80/10L90, before ordering

Description

This harness is built for standalone Drive-by-Wire engine management with a 6L80E automatic transmission. It integrates the fuse/relay box, sensor connectors, engine control wiring, fuel pump control, fan control, OBD2 connection, and supporting outputs needed for a clean LT engine control installation.

This harness is designed for 2014-and-later L86/L83 engines paired specifically with a 6L80E transmission. GM later transitioned these engines to a 10L80/10L90 transmission in some model years — if your vehicle uses that later transmission, TSP's separate 10L80/10L90 harness is the correct match instead. Confirm transmission pin count, pedal and throttle body requirements, oxygen sensor layout, MAP/MAF connections, and power/ground routing before installation.

Applications
Fits L86/L83 engines paired with a 6L80E transmission — commonly found in earlier-generation Silverado, Sierra, Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, and Escalade applications before GM's transition to the 10L80/10L90 transmission in later model years, as well as LS/LT engine swap applications using this same engine and transmission combination. [Recommend confirming exact model-year cutoffs per vehicle line with your engineering/parts data before publishing specific years, since the 6L80E-to-10L80 transition happened at slightly different times across different GM platforms.]

Installation
Requires GM connector 28604913 (driver side) and GM connector 28605173 (passenger side) to complete installation — not included. Fuel injectors and fuel injector sub-harnesses are also not included.

Engine Fitment

COMPATIBLE WITH
2014 and later LT engines*
*Fits L86 and L83 engines with 6L80E automatic transmissions.

NOTES
• Fits L86/L83 engines paired with a 6L80E transmission, as used from 2014 through the mid-to-late 2010s before GM transitioned newer trucks/SUVs to 8L90 or 10L80/10L90.
• Confirm your specific vehicle's transmission code (not just engine code) before ordering, since later L86/L83 trucks may use a different transmission.
• This harness is wired for a 3-wire fuel pressure sensor. Confirm your fuel pressure sensor uses a 3-wire connector before installation, as 4-wire and other sensor styles are not compatible without modification.

COMMON VEHICLE APPLICATIONS
- Chevrolet Silverado 1500 (2014–2018, L83/L86 with 6L80E)
- GMC Sierra 1500 (2014–2018, L83/L86 with 6L80E)
- Chevrolet Tahoe / Suburban (2015–2018, L83/L86 with 6L80E)
- GMC Yukon / Yukon XL (2015–2018, L83/L86 with 6L80E)
- Escalade (2015, L86 with 6L80E, prior to 8L90 adoption)
- LS/LT engine swap applications using an L86/L83 engine paired with a 6L80E transmission

Q&A

What year L86/L83 engines is this harness compatible with?
This standalone wiring harness is designed for 2014-and-later GM Gen V L83 5.3L and L86 6.2L engines paired with a 6L80E automatic transmission.

How is this different from TSP's other L86/L83 harness?
This version is designed specifically for applications using the 6L80E automatic transmission. TSP also offers a version for the 10L80 and 10L90 transmissions found in later L83 and L86 applications. Verify your transmission model before ordering to ensure compatibility.

Does this include a PCM/ECM?
No. This is a standalone engine wiring harness and does not include a PCM/ECM. A compatible PCM/ECM programmed for your specific engine and transmission combination is required.

What connectors do I need to complete the installation?
This harness requires GM connector 28604913 (driver side) and GM connector 28605173 (passenger side) to complete the installation. These connectors are not included and must be purchased separately.

Does this include fuel injectors or injector sub-harnesses?
No. Fuel injectors and fuel injector sub-harnesses are not included with this harness.

What's included in this harness kit?
This harness includes wiring for the fuse/relay box, fuel pump control, electric fan controls, OBD2 diagnostic port, MAF sensor, MAP sensor, engine coolant temperature sensor, alternator control, two upstream oxygen sensors, crankshaft position sensor, camshaft position sensor, coil packs, transmission control, and knock sensors.

Does this include the throttle body or accelerator pedal?
No. The throttle body and accelerator pedal are not included and must be purchased separately.
