Product Details

Features

  • Trap-door baffles help prevent oil pressure drops under hard cornering
  • 7-quart capacity extends oil supply for extended high-RPM runs
  • Fits Chevy big block 2-piece rear main seal engines, up to 1990
  • Chrome-plated steel construction with 8-1/4 in. pan depth

Description

High-RPM driving and hard cornering can cause the oil pickup to momentarily lose contact with oil, starving the engine of lubrication right when it needs it most. This chrome-plated steel racing-style oil pan is built to reduce that risk, using trap-door baffles designed to keep oil near the pickup during acceleration, braking, and high-G cornering.

It's designed for Chevrolet big block V8 Gen. II (Mark IV) engines, including 366, 396, 402, 427, and 454 cubic-inch displacements, and fits most big block applications using a two-piece rear main seal produced up through 1990.

The pan holds 7 quarts — a significant increase in capacity for extended high-RPM runs — and has a pan depth of 8-1/4 inches. It uses a wet-sump design with the sump located at the rear of the pan, and includes a 1/2"-20 drain plug thread with the drain plug included. The gasket, oil pickup, windage tray, and dipstick are not included and will need to be sourced separately to complete installation.

Constructed from steel with a chrome finish, the pan is built for racing and high-performance street applications where extra capacity and anti-starvation baffling matter.

Q&A

What makes this a "racing style" oil pan?
It uses trap-door baffles designed to help prevent oil pressure drops during hard acceleration, braking, and cornering.

How much oil does this pan hold?
7 quarts, a higher capacity than a standard pan, with a pan depth of 8-1/4 inches.

Does this pan include the gasket, oil pickup, or windage tray?
No — the gasket, oil pickup, windage tray, and dipstick are not included and must be sourced separately.

Will this pan fit a small block Chevy?
No — this pan is designed for Chevy big block V8 Gen. II (Mark IV) engines with a two-piece rear main seal, not small block engines.

Where is the dipstick located?
Passenger side, matching the factory dipstick location for two-piece rear main seal big block engines. The dipstick itself is not included.

What size is the drain plug thread?
1/2"-20, with the drain plug included.
